Hello Summer, Goodbye Pain & Inflammation

Whether it’s experienced often or occasionally, pain and inflammation have most likely both been a struggle for you at some point. They are a natural part of the human condition. Because of their intangible and relative nature, they can sometimes be hard to identify or acknowledge. Usually, they don’t exist in a constant state, but rather they ebb and flow like the tides. Their severity depends on where we are emotionally, spiritually, hormonally, and physically. Staying tuned in to your vibrational frequency and body shifts can help you stay ahead of pain and inflammation, ultimately heading it off before it starts.

Modern society has convinced many of us that pain and inflammation have no place in a healthy lifestyle. The contrary is true -- pain and inflammation are healthy responses to everyday stressors. Without pain, how would we know our limits? Without inflammation, how would we activate our immune systems? The problem is not in the existence of pain and inflammation, but rather unnatural levels of these natural responses.

Pain and inflammation both act in a cascading manner. Think of a neatly lined up row of dominos. With just one small push, a cascading effect is set into motion, knocking one domino after the other down to the ground. When our body reaches unhealthy levels of pain and inflammation, it sets off a cascade of hormonal and immune responses to compensate. That’s why prevention is always our focus. We want to stop the cascade before it starts. Like all good things in life, this comes with mindfulness and dedication to a healthy lifestyle. We have products that were specifically designed to support healthy levels of inflammation. Let’s take a look at some of them and how they might help you in your wellness journey.

MSM Morning Mix

This blend of organic sulfur, vitamin C, polysaccharides, antioxidants, minerals, alkaloids, and other bioactive nutrients is the perfect way to start your day and reduce inflammation. This mix was designed with detox and healing in mind. It is meant to nourish your cells and sustain a healthy level of inflammation. Sulfur maintains the permeability of our cell membranes, without enough of it, our cells become rigid, and lack the ability to remove toxins and absorb nutrients. This is why we emphasize this formula in virtually every health condition. We emphasize using this mix in the morning when your cells are often inflamed and dehydrated. We all wake seeking nourishment and a reprieve from the sluggishness of the night. Instead of seeking the energy boost from caffeine, which can sometimes encourage inflammation ( R), turn to our MSM Morning Mix for a natural, sustainable energy boost that will help keep your inflammation levels in check.

Turmeric and Golden Milk

Turmeric is the current superstar of the anti-inflammatory world. It’s active ingredient, curcumin, has been used since ancient times as a natural remedy. Recently, turmeric has increasingly been the focus of studies on fighting inflammation naturally. In fact, this vibrant golden spice has become one of the most researched medicinal herbs.

Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory supplement. It fights oxidative stress and free radicals, both of which can wreak havoc on the body systems. Because inflammation and pain often go hand-in-hand, turmeric can help fight both. It has been used in clinical applications to manage pain, overcome infections, and speed healing. It has also been proven to be effective in reducing arthritis symptoms ( R).

Our Turmeric Oil and Golden Milk both include black pepper, both of which increase the absorption and anti-inflammatory potential of turmeric (R).

Tart Cherry

This vibrant powder features Nordic Cherry®. The cherry fruit and skins go through a full-spectrum, patented extraction process in Denmark to ensure it retains the highest levels of the bioactive components. These components work to support healthy sleep cycles, which in turn helps keep inflammation and pain in check. Studies have also shown that tart cherry powder’s high polyphenol levels help to reduce inflammation and oxidative stress.

Magnesium

Magnesium powers the movement of electrically charged ions in our bodies. It is a major component of your muscles and bones and required for your body to effectively absorb bone and joint health-promoting nutrients like calcium. Magnesium plays an important role in over 350 processes in your body, so optimal levels are important.

Topical magnesium absorbs almost immediately upon contact with your skin. For maximum absorption, magnesium should be applied to areas where the skin is thin like the armpits, behind your knees, or on top of your feet. It can also be applied anywhere you are experiencing pain for quick and natural pain relief. In fact, many studies have proven magnesium’s ability to reduce neuropathic pain, painful periods, tension headaches, acute migraine attacks and other sources of pain ( R).

Super 3and Astaxanthin

Omega 3 fatty acids have long been known to reduce inflammation. Our formulation is derived from algae, which is the cleanest source of DHA. For even more antioxidant potential, we add Astaxanthin and Sea Buckthorn to our blend. The fatty acids present in omega 3 have been shown to help inhibit inflammation ( R). Clinical studies have shown that Astaxanthin has been shown in studies to inhibit inflammation in the gastrointestinal and vascular systems, and the muscles after intense exercise. Emerging studies have shown Astaxanthin has been able to reduce inflammation in the eyes, kidneys, and brain.

This powerful adaptogen finds its roots in Ayurvedic tradition. It is known to contain several key bioactive compounds that affect everything from blood glucose levels to inflammation. Its popular calming effect helps reduce cortisol levels. It has also been shown to encourage an enhanced immune response and modulation of inflammation ( R).

Camu Camu

Camu Camu is a beautiful berry with remarkable healing properties. It’s incredibly high Vitamin C content supports healthy immunity. Its studied effects include antioxidant potential and anti-inflammatory activity. It has also been shown to support the body in fighting pain and viruses ( R). It has consistently been ranked one of the best medicinal herbs for pain, migraines, and osteoarthritis, to name a few.

Diet

Achieving balance in pain and inflammation involves a healthy lifestyle and the right supplement choices. A diet focused on a balanced intake of healthy fats, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates can help you achieve your health goals. In particular, focus on an increase in omega 3 fatty acids and avoid large spikes in blood sugar by reducing your intake of processed sugars. Include a colorful array of non-starchy vegetables whenever possible for their bioactive components.

For fats, choose foods that are low in omega 6 fats. These have been proven to be culprits of silent inflammation. For protein, quality over quantity. Pasture raised meats are essential. Bison, Lamb, Elk, wild caught seafood and other game meats are emphasized. Ideally, your protein intake should be equally spaced throughout the day to maintain satiety. For carbohydrates, choose foods with a low glycemic load and high polyphenol content. In fruits and vegetables, vibrant color is a good indicator of increased polyphenol content. Your best bet is non-starchy vegetables, fruit in moderation, and limited whole grains. Eliminating or heavily reducing refined carbohydrates is strongly recommended. An overall lower glycemic load diet will lead to a lower inflammatory response ( R).

Many researchers recommend a 1:2:3 ratio of fat to protein to carbohydrates for optimal anti-inflammatory benefits. With this ratio, multiple studies support the supplementation of omega 3 fatty acids, like our Super 3 ( R).

What to eat is not the only question that needs to be answered. Another is when to eat. The average meal will provide around 5 hours of hormonal control, which 3 meals a day is generally recommended.

Together, these lifestyle choices and work together to keep you in a healthy balance. Whether you are looking to reduce inflammation and prevent chronic disease, or you are looking to treat your already established chronic disease, it's never too late to implement these easy strategies.
