How to Take
Usage: Start with 1 drop in 2-4 oz of water for two weeks to get your body acclimated to additional iodine then increase from there if desired or as recommended by your health care professional. For some patients who have determined they are very iodine deficient and want to "load" iodine, a typical dosage is ten to fifteen drops a day for ten days to two weeks. You can back off to a maintenance dose of one to five drops per day or none at all for a period of time. It is best to gradually increase dosage and gradually decrease dosage by one drop at a time each day so any detoxification symptoms are lessened and the body gets time to adjust. Additional selenium intake is recommended for high dosages of iodine. Just 3-4 brazil nuts per day is a great way to ensure adequate selenium.
Forms and Potency: 1 drop supplies 1.8mg free form iodine and iodide. Our ammonium bound iodide is superior to potassium bound iodide (ie, Lugol's). The Ammonium turns into an inert gas when it hits the stomach so iodide is left in its free form for the body to use as needed. We do not recommend the use of sodium or a potassium iodide. Those iodides are not free form and completely water soluble. These iodides tend to be more aggressive in the body and can cause allergic reactions, heart palpitations, and depress the thyroid in some patients. Our formula does not do this.
